Downtown Timmins Gets Brand New, Colour-Changing Sign Lights Up the Night
New sign installed in front of the Timmins Museum attracts many local residents and tourists
alike.
On December 13, 2019, a new colour-changing, interactive sign was installed outside of the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre. Since the first day of its installation, the sign has already attracted dozens of visitors eager to take photos with the large LED letters. The brightly-lit sign is a great way to draw more foot traffic to downtown Timmins and will become a symbol of the town. Timmins City Councillor, Noella Rinaldo, calls it “an infrastructure brick-and-mortar”.
The sign, made by Forward Signs, represents the strong community of downtown Timmins. The project was proposed as a way to attract more people to the area and to shine a light on the gems of the town. Signs like these are popping up everywhere including Cochrane and Ottawa and many people are excited to take pictures with them. Signs like these are not only great tourist attractions, but also stand as a reminder of the connection between people in the community.
A replica has been installed outside of the Timmins train station since Spring 2020.
